TECHNICAL ADVICE
Collecting « rigadelles » is really simple : just scratch the sand and pick it up! Once you’ve collected your cockles, wash them several times with seawater, in order to get rid of the sand in the shells. Wash it again with spring water, and then let it boil with salted water and vinegar approximately 15 minutes.

USEFUL ADVICE

Collecting shells is a free activity, but some rules have to be followed in order to respect the nature. Pay attention to the size of the shells, the small ones can’t be collected. For safety reasons, please do not pick up the shells lying on the sand.

Some rules to be followed on the seaside :

Pay attention to the size of the shells, the small ones can’t be collected. A minimum size has to be respected :

- cockle : 3 cm
- shrimp: 3 cm
- mussel : 4 cm
- abalone shell: 9 cm
- spider crab : 12 cm
- crab : 14 cm

~ Do not ride on sand dunes.

~ Do not pick plants and flowers.

~ Collect your own disches after a picnic.

~ For safety reasons, please do not pick up the shells lying on the sand.
