The Saint-Pierre church :

The Saint-Pierre church is one of the oldest monuments in Plouneour-Trez, and was built in 1734. Surrounded by chapels and crosses, the monument is known and visited for its beautiful stained glass windows. One of the chapels is now used as the museum of local traditions.

The cross Beg ar Groaz :

The word beg means “spear” in Breton, and groaz “cross”. This 19th century cross stands on a rock along the seaside, which offers a great view over the Goulven bay.

Menhoignon menhir :

It’s the highest menhir in the Pays Pagan, the region surrounding Plounéour-Trez. Despite its impressive size (8,12 meters high), it is not as well-known as the Brignogan (Menmarz menhir). This is mainly due to its remote location in the middle of a field. This stone testifies the existence of a village that used to stand there more than 5000 years ago. The menhir was bought together with the one in Brignogan in 1881 for the fair price of 180 francs, meaning that both are now property of the state.

Dievet Dolmen :

A dolmen is a megalithic grave, composed of a flagstone lying on five standing stones.

Wrack oven :

These ovens were built in the early 19th century by villagers to be used as fertilizer. The 4 to 5 existing ovens disappeared into sand and vegetation. They were discovered by coincidence in 2001, and have been restored by a local association.

Public washings :

Once, it was the place for local women to wash clothes and to be updated with the latest news. You can find many of them in the village. 4 of the former public washing places have been recently restored, thanks to voluntary workers.

Train station :

The train station in Plounéour-Trez was first built in 1904, and was connected to Brest, Landerneau and the line Paris-Brest. The rail station closed after World War 2 as the track wasn’t used anymore.

The crosses :

You can find more than 40 crosses in Plounéour-Trez.
